Vintage Speedsters 356
Pulled from Los Angeles Craigslist, this Vintage Speedsters 356 looks to be in spectacular condition. Finished in an agreeable Chiffon yellow shade over a red leather interior, this 356 boasts highly nostalgic looks and an affordable price tag.
Constructed by Scottsdale, Arizona, based builder Vintage Speedsters roughly 10 years ago, this 356 appears to be well cared for and nicely equipped. Power comes from a 1,600cc Volkswagen dual-port engine, and the transmission is equipped with Freeway Flyer gearing. A full tonneau cover, side curtains and a new top are included in the sale, and the car is registered in California as a 1964 VW.
The red leather over black carpeting is really a treat in the interior of this 356. Pair that with a full set of interior options and a California black plate, and you’ve got a one-way ticket back to 1965.

Early Intermeccanica Speedster
Built in the 1970s by Intermeccanica, this 356 Speedster replica on Los Angeles Craigslist is a classic in its own right. It’s a little rough around the edges, but full of character and has some real potential.
With Intermeccanica getting its start in 356 replicas in 1975, this 356A is likely one of the earliest built by the firm. The car is said to have been recently rebuilt, but shows a bit of patina around the edges, and has a few missing items. It’s based on a VW pan with a 1,600cc dual-port engine and four-lug wheels, and has current California registration.
The traditional appearance and exterior imperfections make this Speedster a fairly convincing facsimile of the real thing, but that doesn’t always pay the bills. For a few thousand less, and with a bit of TLC, you could have a nice 356 in your garage though.

Optioned Out Intermeccanica
This Intermeccanica Speedster on Los Angeles Craigslist has a lot going for it. It’s been built by a reputable firm, it looks great and it’s loaded with cosmetic and mechanical improvements above and beyond most cars in its price range.
The Speedster has some serious curb appeal, which starts with nice black paint with a red accent stripe, and silver wide-five wheels with black hubs. The exterior also features some additional badging and an amber fog lamp. The red and black interior is also above and beyond your average 356, and everything is clean and well done. However, the ostrich leather and doorsill plates might turn away some buyers.
The 356 is powered by a large, 1,914cc dual-port VW with Weber carbs, a nice improvement over the 1,600ccs in the other two cars. The seller reports that the car has a quiet, hide-away exhaust, full tonneau cover and more. At the $25,000 asking price, this car would be my choice. See it here on Los Angeles Craigslist.
