Concours Cockpits
By Dean Larson
With some of the world's most valuable classic cars and exotics on display at the auction previews and concours greens, there were definitely some fine interiors to be seen at Amelia Island this year. While most of us will never experience the splendor of an original 300 SL Gullwing interior, or row through the gears in a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, we'd be remiss to not appreciate these cockpits, even if at a distance.
To be real though, I just really enjoy taking photos of classic car interiors, as we've become so accustomed to soulless plastic features, that analog dials and metal toggle switches feel foreign at times. Sure, these Ferraris, Lamborghinis and vintage race cars weren't built to be the commuter that your Honda CR-V is, but we always lament the lost artwork in it all.
Regardless, hopefully these concours-grade cockpits inspire you to go above and beyond with your project car at home. And if it does, be sure to drop us an email.
