It’s Been A Great Ride
By Dean Larson
I was fresh out of college when I started working on ReinCarNation Magazine, and I thought I knew my shit pretty well when it came to cars. That was until my work here plunged me into the rich world of kit cars and replicas, and also vintage racing, classic sports cars and the unfathomable stories that go along with. I’m truly lucky to have learned all this under the guise of a respectable occupation. But it’s finally time for me to move on to other things, and with me, goes the regular updating of Rare Car Network and our weekly E-newsletters.
I want to thank all of you for sticking with us for nearly five years now, and especially those who enjoyed our regular ramblings regarding cars for sale, intriguing automotive technology and whatever junk we were working on at any given time.
So in short, RCN will be taking a backseat to some of our other projects and won’t be updated as frequently as it is now, but we won’t be abandoning it completely. We’ll still be keeping the site live, and we’ll even post some new stories every so often. Our Ford 347 stroker build is just one of our projects that I can’t stand to leave unfinished. I’ll have a little more time on my hands to dedicate to it going forward, so watch our site and Facebook page if you’ve been following that build. There’s also my $1,500 Triumph Spitfire. I’ve worked on it a ton in my spare time, and I think I’m close to having it as a reliable driver. I more than owe an update on that project as well.
If nothing else, RCN will serve as a home for feature write-ups on cars we’re working on, flipping or documenting, and I think you’ll probably find those interesting as well. There’s also a wealth of old content on our site, including exclusive features and technical pieces as well.
While it wasn’t a huge commercial success, I’m pretty happy with what we were able to accomplish with RCN. We all learned a ton over the course of the project, and I believe we eventually turned it into one of the finest niche automotive publications out there — all at an unbeatable cost to our readers.
As for me, I’ll be working on a lot of random projects going forward, but one thing’s certain. The next time you see me I’ll be driving one of my dream cars, a 1964 Dodge 330 A864 Hemi lightweight, so it’s all good on my end.
