One of the most exciting vehicles unveiled at this year’s SEMA Show was undoubtedly the 3.5-liter EcoBoost-powered Superformance Future Forty. And now, just four weeks after the car’s unveiling, the groundbreaking new GT40 is available for purchase through Superfromance dealer Hillbank Motor Corporation.
The Future GT Forty is spectacular melding of classic and contemporary influences, initially concocted by our friend at Hillbank, Doug Campbell. The new model is a fresh take a Superformance’s standard MkI GT40 with a contemporary 3.5-liter Ford EcoBoost V6 fit with twin Honeywell-Garrett turbochargers. The Future Forty also borrows several styling cues and aerodynamic treatments from Ford’s recent Le Mans Racing GTs. Campbell dreamed up the concept one late evening as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the GT40’s Le Mans victories of 1968 and ’69, as well as Ford’s recent Le Mans victory. While initially slated to be a one-off build, Lance Stander of Superformance was thrilled with the idea, and the Future GT Forty was introduced as Superformance’s newest GT iteration.
A host of modern visuals and carbon fiber aero treatments were added to the standard MkI body to create the Future GT Forty. You’ll find a pair of carbon air canards and a detachable carbon splitter up front, in addition to a detachable carbon rear wing. The paint scheme emulates the #68 Ford GT that recently won at Le Mans. HID headlights were also incorporated into the standard housings and LED taillights were used out back.
Replacing the 15-inch wheels with three-spoked knock-offs you’d expect to see on a MkI, are a brand new set of 18- and 19-inch HRE wheels. Color-coded center lock nuts secure the pin-drive wheels over six-piston Wilwood brakes with slotted rotors. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires keep the car planted, and a wide-body option is available, which accommodates 345-series tires in the rear.
The interior of the Future Forty is upgraded nicely from the standard GT with Dynamat sound insulation and modernized GT40 seats. An electronic gauge package will be used to monitor driveline functions.
The Future GT Forty is offered by Hillbank Motor Corporation as a roller starting at $179,900. V’s Performance of Orange, California, perfected the installation of the 3.5-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost engine, should you also choose that route also.
