The London Cobra Show has been a fixture in this hobby for more than a decade now, not only as a good excuse to drive your roadster and meet other enthusiasts, but also an opportunity to work together for a good cause — raising money to fight cystic fibrosis. Unfortunately the 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’re excited to say that the 2021 event is poised to fire on all eight cylinders, headlined by a fantastic raffle Cobra from Hurricane Motorsports.
The Cobra raffle is always a central aspect of the show, because it not only raises money for a great cause, but also the excitement of becoming a new Cobra owner. This year’s car is a 427 roadster supplied by Hurricane Motorsports out of Carroll, Iowa. Hurricane’s Cobra is based on a custom ladder-style chassis composed of 2 x 4-inch, 3/16-inch thick main rails with .120 wall tubing used to form the supporting structures. The one-piece, big-block bodywork is comprised of fiberglass with Coremat used in its construction. As for mechanicals, the car is powered by a 500 hp Ford 347 stroker built by Craft Performance Engines, backed by a TREMEC TKO-600 five-speed transmission. Here’s a detailed rundown of the mill courtesy of the Ohio Cobra Club:
Craft Performance Engines Ford 347 cubic inch Dart block engine, 500 HP/465 lb. ft. torque, using an Eagle 4340 steel crank, Eagle H-Bean connecting rods, Mahle forged pistons, Ford Motorsport hydraulic roller camshaft, Brodix aluminum cylinder heads (compression ratio of 10:1), Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold, Holly Sniper electronic fuel injection, and valve covers and air cleaner cover engraved with Craft Performance/Ohio Cobra Club logos. Engine is fully tested and tuned on a Superflow SF-902 engine dynamometer.
To finish the car off, a striking shade of Viper Red was applied to the bodywork, accented by white stripes, Halibrand-style wheels, ceramic coated side pipes and twin roll hoops. The deluxe black leather interior sports full carpeting, black leather buckets, a wood-rimmed wheel and a full compliment of custom gauges.
With a high-revving stroker under the hood and choice suspension and braking components, this Hurricane Cobra’s sure to be a mover, and it could very well end up in your garage. Tickets can be purchased at londoncobrashow.com up to 5:00 pm on June 25th, and the winning ticket will be drawn at 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 26.
Good luck!
