RCN Drivers’ Choice Awards: DIY Build Package Winners
Last year we kicked off our second annual RCN Drivers’ Choice Awards program to recognize the top products and services in the world of replicas, unique classics and homebuilt cars. We posted 20 categories ranging from tools, tires and brakes, all the way up to complete turnkey vehicles and builder packages, and you voted for your favorites. Unfortunately we were not able to hand out our Drivers’ Choice Awards in person at the SEMA Show with its 2020 cancellation, but we look forward to recognizing our winners over the coming weeks here at rcnmag.com.
Our largest category this year was once again the D.I.Y. Build Packages category, with a dozen different companies offering everything from exos, to Cobras and classic replicas. Our gold medal finisher in the category was once again, Factory Five Racing in Wareham, Massachusetts.
One of the largest players in the kit and replica game, Factory Five got its start back in 1995 building single-donor Cobra kits. Today, the company has expanded and diversified its offerings, with 12 different models on their roster ranging from Ford-based hot rods and Cobras, to the mid-engine GTM and Subaru-based 818. Recently, the company has introduced its new Speedstar Hot Rod model, along with an upcoming F9 supercar concept.
Factory Five Racing was awarded the gold medal in our 2019 Drivers’ Choice Awards as well, and faced stiff competition in 2020 from Superlite Cars and Shell Valley Classic Wheels, who placed second and third respectively.
Thanks to all who voted, along with all the manufacturers nominated in this category!
