CONGRATULATIONS to reader Randall K. from Virginia for taking home the top award in RCN's March photo contest. Randall submitted his photo, “’54 at the Lake,” and barely outstretched Dennis’ Unique Motorcars 289 FIA and Alan’s snow covered 1968 MGB GT.

This is the first of our monthly photo contests won by one of the big three, or any regular production vehicle for that matter. In 1953, Ford introduced the second-generation F-series truck, the F100, with significantly revised body styling. Ford introduced a more powerful V8 engine in 1954 that you’d likely see if you popped the hood on Randall’s ride. Besides the cherry red color and lake setting in the background, we do notice a different bed than we’d normally see on this F100. Randall tells us that this truck was ordered with that bed for a newspaper company to deliver bundles of papers for the local paperboy routes. The bed has been replaced three times on this F-series, while the truck itself has less than 80,000 miles on it.

Now we’re on to our April contest, which features a Monster Miata with a 350 hp Ford 302, an Intermeccanica 356 recreation, a Pilgrim Cobra, FFR Cobra, Unique 427, Superformance MKIII and a one-of-a-kind 1932 Morgan three-wheeler van.
