VW Funfest Unveils Logo for 2014
As Funfest for Air-Cooled VW turns 16, Mid America Motorworks has sought out some special artwork to mark the celebration. Designed by Tucson-based artist, Lemorris Harris, the Sweet 16-themed artwork features a stylized VW Beetle, Bus and Dune Buggy in front of a towering birthday cake. The fun design and vibrant colors demonstrate the genuine excitement Volkswagen enthusiasts can expect to enjoy at Funfest. Set for June 6-8, 2014, Funfest for Air-Cooled VW will welcome thousands of air-cooled and water-cooled Volkswagens and their enthusiastic owners to celebrate the hobby at Mid America Motorworks' corporate campus in Effingham, Ill., some 90 miles east of St. Louis.
“For many people, June means summer and road trips, vacations and an overall good time,” said Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader and founder of Mid America Motorworks. “Our artwork this year conveys exactly that. Come to Funfest for Air-Cooled VW and you’re sure to have a good time!”
One of the premier VW celebrations in the country, Funfest for Air-Cooled VW welcomes enthusiasts—including those with VW-based kits—from all over the world. The weekend kicks off with the Friday Night Fun Run through scenic Effingham. The Fun Run turns into an impromptu parade where locals greet the VW crowd, followed by music, food and a VW car show at the Downtown Party hosted by the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau. Fun Run participants will be part of the first-ever Downtown Celebrity Choice awards, with presentations given at the Effingham Courthouse square.
Guests can look forward to all new expert seminars, low-speed slaloms, special VW displays, a swap meet, a Saturday concert and much more. VW Bus parking and camping will once again be front and center on the show field, along with special parking for all water cooled Volkswagens. All registered guests will be eligible for Celebrity Choice fun judging, where VW industry celebs select Volkswagens that best portray the hobby.
